In a rather discreet manner, google releases new text-to-video AI app

Today, April 10, Google quietly released a video creation app powered by AI. The new tool, Google Vids, is intended for users of Google Workspace and leverages Google Gemini’s capabilities to assist in producing educational videos for the workspace.

A public beta is planned for a later date. The new online tool, which is presently undergoing testing with a limited group of Google Workspace Labs customers, expands upon some of the AI-powered features seen in Google’s existing apps, such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The distinction is that with Google Vids, you can either utilize AI to generate a video storyboard using simple prompts and basic words, or you can manually construct one using own media. This enables you to quickly edit and assemble a greater number of educational videos.

The storyboard will allow you to select stock photos, videos, and background music in addition to uploading your own media. Naturally, the software has voiceover capabilities as well, and it can use AI to write a script. The user experience appears to be simple and similar to Google Slides.

Google Vids is mostly intended for professional use. It appears that the main uses of this product are sales training videos, vendor outreach, project updates, and even onboarding videos. You won’t be able to use it to make your own YouTube videos. You will have complete access to a variety of templates and styles. Colleagues can participate in the collaborative feature to assist you in creating content or offering feedback on your work, just as in other Google Workspace applicati

The Google product, whish isn’t going for free is for enterprise and work use. According to The Verge, videos can only be three minutes long and there is currently no YouTube integration. However, more features might be added soon.

Google Vids and Microsoft’s Clipchamp, a free online video editor available to both individual and business customers, certainly appear to be rather comparable. With the use of an AI video editing tool from Clipchamp, you can use your content to automatically create short videos by having the tool recognize the scenes in your media. Additionally, it contains an AI voiceover capability that speaks text aloud.
