Elon Musk to speak at World AI Conference in China.

According to a program that has been made public, Elon Musk will be one of the keynote speakers at the World AI Conference (WAIC) opening ceremony on Thursday, July 4, in Shanghai, China.

It was unclear from the program whether Musk would be appearing in person or by video. However, it was said that Musk wasn’t really expected to be physically present.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang is also scheduled to attend the opening and is expected to speak as well.

During the Tesla CEO’s quick visit to Beijing in April, Musk and Li had their first meeting there.
According to insiders at the time, Musk used the trip to talk about the release of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software and data-transfer approval.

This would not be Musk’s first time of gracing the occasion. He made video messages available at the last two conferences he attended. He was, however, physically present at the event in 2019.

Coincidentally, the EU is anticipated to place provisional tariffs on Chinese electric car imports on the same day as Musk’s address.

The largest exporter of electric vehicles (EVs) from China to Europe, Tesla, has asked the Commission to determine an exclusive duty rate for it.

At present, it is subject to an extra 21% tariff, being one of the electric vehicles makers in the group that have assisted the inquiry.
