The latest edition of Huawei’s high-end P series phones is expected soon, as the Chinese tech giant Huawei, has begun accepting clients to express interest in a smartphone model that it has not yet disclosed.
With the release of the Mate 60 series last year, the company made a triumphant return to the premium smartphone market, which was hailed by state media as a victory over US sanctions on the company. Additionally, a sharp drop in Apple’s iPhone sales in China has been attributed to the debut.
In recent months, there has been much speculation that Huawei will soon release the P70, which is anticipated to include an innovative chip developed in China, just like the Mate 60.
While Huawei’s high-end Mate series has more of an emphasis on performance and business functions, the P series boasts sophisticated cameras and a stylish appearance.
A product launch on Thursday for a laptop and smart car model omitted any mention of phones, frustrating throngs of internet critics. However, on Friday, Reuters conducted inspections at three Huawei locations in Beijing and discovered that prospective customers could sign up to obtain details about a phone without having to pay a deposit.
Sales personnel stated that registered consumers will be informed about the phone’s specifications and colors in due course.
The Mate 60 was unveiled without any prior advertising or specification disclosure, which led some users and companies to disassemble the phones in an attempt to determine their capabilities. The phone was most famously announced during a visit to China by U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.
With this strategy, “Huawei kills two birds with one stone,” according to Will Wong, an analyst at research firm IDC. He pointed out that the company might keep a low profile in the face of tensions between the United States and China over trade while creating a sense of mystery and anticipation for the launches.
Counterpoint Research’s Archie Zhang, a smartphone expert, pointed out that stock availability has been a major impediment for the Mate 60 and is probably going to be the same for the P70.
Based on reports from sources, Huawei had to prioritize the production of artificial intelligence processors above the production of Mate 60 phones, which resulted in a delay in phone production.
